Our decaf contains no additives, and thanks to the use of exceptional quality coffee beans, you can taste lemon, dark chocolate, red currant and orange peel in it. These flavor notes are what the sensory profile, or natural coffee flavor, is all about.

The coffee was purified using the CO2 process, which is a very popular and safe method. The beans come from the department of Caldas in Colombia. The region is fed by numerous water sources and natural resources. Thanks to its excellent conditions, the department of Caldas is one of the largest producers of coffee. The station currently processes harvests from 30 coffee-producing families at an altitude of 1,800 meters above sea level.

Why is this coffee dedicated to espresso machines, coffee machines and moka pots?

Is it possible to roast coffee "for everything"? You can, only why? There was old Polish bleach commercial that perfectly sums up the multi-tasking and versatility of products:

- when something is for everything, it's for nothing.

When brewing coffee in an espresso machine, which is a pressurized method, the ground coffee literally comes into contact with water for 25 to 35 seconds. If we use, for example, a drip, AeroPress or Chemex, or a pour-over coffee maker, the coffee in such methods brews from 2.5 to 12 minutes.

This is why we roast coffees for espresso machines or coffee makers and separately for alternatives. Each method requires a different roasting profile, and properly roasted coffee will reveal its unique character in your cup. We just highlight it, and you discover it.

Do you know the best way to set your espresso machine?

If you're using a home espresso machine, set it to the highest temperature, the instruction manual that comes with the equipment will help you. Set your grinder to the finest grind possible, at which the machine can brew a reasonable amount of coffee - 30-45 ml. Remember to adjust the coarseness of grinding when the grinder is running, as it is easy to damage the ceramic discs (burrs).

Discover coffee processing station

Among the beautiful landscapes created by a valley surrounded by plantations is Villamarìa: it is a drying station in Chinchinà, a municipality located in the Caldas department of Colombia. Villamarìa is located at a lower altitude, so it uses natural and honey treatments, which are favored by higher temperatures. Explore the Caldas region

What the term Exelso means

Merchant who buys already processed grain, uses special screens through which the size of the grain is determined. The Excelso designation in our Colombia indicates that it has been sifted through sieve (screen) number 18 with a hole diameter of 7.14 mm. The UGQ designation that the coffee has is an abbreviation for Usual Good Quality, meaning the beans are larger than the screen 14, which is 5.5 millimeters.

How is decaffeinated coffee made?

Note that no decaffeination method will make decaffeinated coffee completely caffeine-free.

CO2 — decaffeination method using carbon dioxide

The process of purifying coffee from caffeine using carbon dioxide (CO2) is a very popular and safe method. How it works. Compressed CO2 behaves partly as a gas and partly as a liquid and has the property of selectively combining with caffeine. In the most commonly used CO2 process, steamed grains are bathed in compressed carbon dioxide, and the caffeine is removed by filtering on charcoal, just as it is in a process using only water. However, the flavor components remain in the grain throughout the process, rather than being soaked and then added back in, as is the case with Swiss Water.

Carbon dioxide is the same ubiquitous and indisputably "natural" substance that plants absorb (and partially produce) and humans produce. In most versions of the CO2 method, the flavor components remain safely in the grains throughout the process, rather than being removed and put back in.
